Director of Marketing

Amber Dixon McGinnis is a loving mother and resilient advocate, with a background in marketing. She is currently working remotely as a managerial accountant and is based in Laurel Springs, NC. With a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing and Communications from Salem College, Amber has blended her passion for storytelling with her expertise in strategic messaging to make a meaningful impact in both her personal and professional endeavors, particularly within the nonprofit sector.

While her career path initially led her through the corridors of nonprofit organizations, it was the arrival of her son, Isaac, that redefined her life's purpose. Isaac's journey began before he even entered this world when Amber and her husband, Adam, received the heart-wrenching news at her 20-week ultrasound that Isaac was diagnosed with severe left-sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). This diagnosis propelled Amber into the world of medical advocacy and parental resilience.

Isaac spent his early days fighting for his life in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Brenner's Children's Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC. Isaac had his repair surgery when he was four days old and was extubated at 20 days old. Isaac was never placed on ECMO but did receive multiple blood transfusions and was on Nitric Oxide along with Oxygen. He “graduated” from the NICU after 103 days requiring only a g-tube for feeding. Despite the challenges he faced, Isaac defied the odds with remarkable strength and resilience.

Being Isaac’s mom has taught her to cherish every milestone and triumph along the way. She believes in the power of storytelling to foster empathy, drive change, and build connections within communities.

Amber is honored and excited to be a part of The CDH Foundation and hopes to serve as a resource for other mothers and families and give hope to those just embarking on this rollercoaster.
